Wax

A colloquial term for sealed, unopened trading card product — boxes, packs, cases, and other sealed formats. The term originates from the wax paper wrappers used on vintage packs. 'Buying wax' means purchasing sealed product to open or hold. The wax market operates differently from the singles market; sealed product can appreciate over time as supply decreases, but carries the risk of poor pulls if opened.
Example
A sealed hobby box of 2024-25 Topps Chrome
